I am convinced this is a hardware issue, perhaps related to ElectroMagnetic Interfence EMI and static electricity or issues with the AC adapters would certainly exacerbate it. Is it possible to extend the existing RAM size of the dell inspiron 15 model laptop with i3 7th generation processor? I am pretty sure that it’s a driver issue, I just can’t seem to figure it out. I’ve had 4 Dell laptops, this one is the first that I have had to send in to Dell for repair. After I made the changes it worked, I even restarted my computer to make sure it didn’t change back. My laptop is scrolling down by itself.

After downloading the BIOS from the link that MicroTest gave me, and rebooting, my touchpad including the virtual scroll is working perfectly!

Then I rebooted and Windows ibspiron reinstalled the proper R driver. Touchpad scrolling doesn’t dell inspiron 1525 touchpad scroll on inspiron with Windows 7 64 bit.
Dll this helps you if you are having difficulties getting drivers to download. They replaced the touchpad and of course tried to sell an extended warranty.
I wanted to adjust the sensitivity on the touchpad on my Dell Inspiron but the Touchpad settings screen did not work.
Just putting this here so that anyone else with the problem will know their laptop isn’t the tluchpad one not working regardless of tweaking and settings. Did this solve your problem? Not sure why the driver update didn’t fix it.
